FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Or, at least, questions I've been asked before...

WHAT WILL MY FIRST SESSION BE LIKE?

For a Reiki session, all you need to do is lay down and breathe. The entire goal is to relax so your body can heal itself, so your only task is to focus on your breathing. Sessions are fully clothed, and the work can be performed by touching or simply by placing the hands near the body. I will always ask if it's ok if I put my hands on you, and if you'd prefer not to be touched, that's fine, too.

ARE YOU A SHAMAN?

For me to call myself a “shaman” would be a very Kanye West thing to do. Shamans are chosen by the people they heal. It’s a group consensus that, “Hey, this woman down by the lake helped me, you should go see her, too. She’s a healer!” “Shaman” is a reputation, not a self-designation. So while I am not comfortable calling myself a Shaman, what I AM is trained in the ways of shamanic healing, which is to say that my teachers and their teachers all studied and learned from tribal healers across the world. The beliefs about the world and humans, and their techniques and tools have all been passed down, and they resonate with me. I incorporate their methods into my own. Thus, I am a Shamanic practitioner, but not a Shaman.

CAN YOU TELL ME WHO MY SOULMATE IS?

No, but I wish I could!

WHAT DO YOU ACTUALLY DO THEN?

The big secret of Reiki, and the benefit of working with any healer, is that YOU are the one doing the healing. I just point you in the right direction and help you relax, so that your body can take over and heal itself. I help to clear the path so that your own systems can more efficiently do their thing. I act as a channel through which Reiki, the universal life force, can flow. I’m a facilitator. And though I'm not a psychic, if I pick up on anything throughout the session that I think is worth mentioning, I’ll tell you.
